Artist's statement:

There is nothing make believe about the strength and femininity she embodies in this fairy tale image.

Careful, but not shy, she is a vision with a secret.

Director's comments:

This was the first Hoogveld photograph that I saw, and it is a strong, haunting image.

There is something timeless in this double-study, almost Elizabethan in both the clothing and the romantic setting deep in the Canadian forest.

I encouraged the artist to pursue this path of work, as there is a theme that has begun with this picture, a story that is unfolding about women, secrets, sexual desire, and the power of nature.

The panel format is well suited to telling this story and others, as the panorama allows time, place and subject to be shifted and re-arranged at the direction of the artist.
