Ground Zero

"Ground Zero", 1978, sculpture, black slag, 100 feet X 30 feet X 4 feet. | 24 X 18 inches Ink-Jet Print on archival canvas Art on the Beach 1, sponsored by Creative Time, New York City.

This site specific sculpture was made for the Creative Time debut of "Art on the Beach". The sculpture was formed from 80 tons of black slag, an industrial abrasive material used in sandblasting. "Ground Zero" has multiple meanings, implying zero elevation, grinding something to its lowest level, or the central area of a blast.

This prophetic sculpture was photographed at the foot of the World Trade Towers in 1978.
