Singer captures with these three photographs taken on the ancient island of Santorini a historic tableaux and domestic ritual from past generations.
The hanging of bedsheets on a clothesline, a shadowed and mysterious doorway, and an unknown female figure, in Grecian culture called a "yaya" which in ancient Greek meant "woman", advancing through the flanks of sheets, together form a powerful trilogy depicting life in this volcanic island culture.
The building and the scenes depicted here, according to the artist, no longer exist.
So, like the domestic ritual of hanging bedsheets to dry in the sun, Singer has captured a fleeting moment, shrouded in light, gone forevermore.
